Module Two - To become an MLM leader

​

One huge mistake that many network marketers make is they don't position themselves as leaders. Becoming a leader is one of the best things you can do for your reputation and your branding in network marketing because people will be attracted to do business with you as well as learn from you.

 

Let's face it, we live in a world of mostly followers. Most people simply do not want to lead or just don't want to do what they need to do, to develop themselves into a leader. If you want to own your own business successfully, as well as recruit lots of people and get lots of sales, you need to show everyone you're a leader. Here are more details on how to become an MLM leader.

First, you need to present yourself as a leader:

Your vision – Your vision is very important as a leader, really reflects you in a very unique way. Inside you always shines and bright. Loving every body and spreading your kindness like confetti.

​

Have a huge vision! What I mean by HUGE is that your vision reflects your most authentic self. The person within you who shines bright. Loves freely. Spreads kindness like confetti. And who is so genuinely happy about the life that they are living day in and day out.

 

•Where are you going to be in the next 3, 6, and 12 months?

• Where are your team going to be in the next 3, 6, and 12 months?

• Start planning and take action now

• If you need guidance, get your upline to help you with that.

You know what you want and act on it – You should know which level of success you want to achieve – for example – Pin Title! You need to understand your choice of pin title, the qualification and what the potential income and lifestyle will be to you. Most importantly what kind of responsibilities and accountabilities do you need, to become that level of leadership. Once you learnt that, act on it! From today, if you want to be that Pin Title Leader, just do and act everything like that Pin Title Leader except spending the money because you haven’t earned it yet. By doing this way, people will hear you and see you as a leader.

The way you present yourself – When people ask you what you do, your answer must be:

 

a) You help and train others to introduce products to customers

b) You help and train others to create a successful sales team

 

So, what do you think the receiving end feels from what you said? They will feel that you are higher level than a salesman, right? You are a leader, right? Of course, without saying, you still can sell them products, and you still can help them to join your own team. Can you see that just a simple way to present yourself, people will see you at a leadership level!

Second, oh yes this is the very important part - showing your leadership skills:

 

There are two areas you need to cover:

 

A) Personal knowledge

B) Team knowledge

 

Let’s have a look at them and see what you need to do!

A) Personal knowledge:

Product knowledgeProduct knowledge is an essential sales skill. Understanding your products' features allows you to present their benefits accurately and persuasively. Customers respond to enthusiastic sales staff who are passionate about their products and eager to share the benefits with them.

 

However

​

• Forget the idea that product knowledge has anything to do with your leadership success.

• You could be in danger of using too much of your time on product knowledge and not sharing management time with your tea

Hit your prospecting numbers Prospecting Is a Numbers Game. Only 10% of salespeople make more than three contacts with a prospect. These people have more sales success

 

• Make sure you hit your prospecting numbers even before you have your team.

• If you don’t do that you have no team to lead.

• Commit to and achieve your prospecting numbers, and then you have a team.

Stop leading with your products - Leadership is essential to making teamwork a reality. Negative leadership traits can ruin a team and destroy all sense of teamwork they possess. Adversely, positive leadership traits can encourage teams to work together seamlessly and achieve greater goals.

 

• Stop focusing on products all the time because products do not bring us retention income.

• Products do not have any loyalty because hundreds of companies out there do similar.

• If you keep leading with products you are skipping all the things that retain income for you – ‘ Training Your Team’

Get better at presenting and speaking Without communication, it would be difficult to influence decisions, form connections, and motivate change. Public speaking is an important part of communication. Leaders especially need to improve their public speaking skills from time to time.

​

• Can you name any successful MLM leaders who get up and present?

• Schedule your time to practise your presentation and public speaking skills.

• Take any opportunity to present, whether it is one on one or public group speaking. The more you do, the better it will be.

What you lack in skill, make up for in numbers - You can born with talents, but you need to work to earn your skills. Skills create through repeated and consistent actions.

 

• Everything we learn for the first time and are not very good at it, then we need to do more in numbers and we will get better.

• When you lack knowledge on any product, talk more and use more numbers, you will know better in no time.

No actions you would NOT want your team to know about. - When you do have odd days don’t feel like working, or not working according to plan, keep it away from your team. Share it with your upline and NOT your downline.

​

• People follow leaders and they will follow what you do.

• Be willing to evaluate what action you are going to take which will influence your team’s action.

• Your action must be to support your team and not to distract them.

Don’t get too tied up with technologyThe technology used to build a product or service offering really is not that important. Without people, there would be no software; no technology. When building a product or service you need to look past the technologies you're using and focus on the value you are providing your customers.

​

• Being good at technology does not always bring success in MLM leadership because it is not duplicable.

• MLM is a people business, not a technology business, so get over it.

Not all will succeed, don’t sabotage yourself Self-sabotage refers to behaviours or thought patterns that hold you back and prevent you from doing what you want to do

 

• Understand not everyone can live up to your expectations.

• No matter what calibre of leader, they also have someone who can’t make it.

• Never beat yourself up about it, as long as you tried and did your best to help your downlines.

​

B) Team Knowledge:

Compensation plan knowledge - A compensation plan refers to all the components of a compensation package (commission, bonus and benefits), the manner in which it will be paid, and for what purpose you receive your rewards on income, bonus increases, and incentives.

 

• You need to know how the compensation plan works for you and your team.

• There is no need to know absolutely everything about it though. As long as you know the most important parts and pass those onto your team.

Create training - Training gives everyone a great understanding of their responsibilities and the knowledge and skills they need to do the tasks. This will enhance their confidence which can also improve their overall performance.

 

• Create some training pages for your team

• Create some training sessions for your team

• Your team can gain easy access to your training material

Daily routine - With daily routines, you will be taking baby steps consistently towards your goal over a period of time. Having a daily routine helps you focus on the important things in life.

 

• Creating a daily routine for yourself is very important.

• Creating a daily routine for your team is also important.

• Creating such routines will not fail in your leadership role.

It’s not about what works, it’s about duplication - Duplication allows you to make copies of your offer quickly and inexpensively, making it more widely available in a cost-effective way. To create something that doesn't require your direct involvement, you need to be able to duplicate it effectively.

​

• This is the biggest part for all leaders to learn.

• Make sure your team can and will duplicate whatever you say and do.

• The whole ‘MLM’ concept is about duplication. Without this, we can never have free time.

Scheduled learning - Scheduling is the art of planning your activities so that you can achieve your goals and priorities in the time you have available.

​

• Schedule weekly for you to learn & feed your mind.

• Schedule to learn about mindset.

• Schedule to learn about presenting.

• Schedule to learn about prospecting.

• Schedule to learn about listening.

• Schedule to learn about leadership.

• DO NOT spend all day learning though.

Share what is actually working and never have a lack of mentality - Sharing your own ideas inspires others to do the same, which builds a more positive and collaborative environment for everyone. If you have a million great ideas but never share a single one, then those ideas aren't worth much because they can never become a reality.

 

• If you find something working, share it with your team.

• This is the only way you can get  duplication.

• Only share anything that works because your team will duplicate.
