Module four - The mindset principle and my story:

Let me tell you a story involving my mindset through my past journey………..

I was lucky enough to be born into a well-off family, giving me protection, security and comfort. I spent most of my childhood between the USA and Hong Kong and grow up in a European community. I hated my education and between the 7 brothers and sisters including myself, I was the only person who never graduate from University, in fact, I never even finish school.

After my trip around Europe, I decided to leave home at the age of 17 and come over to England to learn to grow up or blow up.

When I set foot in England, I promised myself I will not return home until I earned my first million…….. It took me 11 years and I return home to visit my family. I was so proud of my achievements and of course, my parents were also proud of me for what I’ve done and achieved.

I built a very successful career and business until 2010 although something happened that was beyond my control. My whole business collapsed on me and there is nothing I can do about it. I lost everything and needed to hit the re-start button again.

Then I came across Network Marketing, it was a new concept to me but I followed my entrepreneurial instinct to jump into the business. I joined network marketing not because I believed it was easy. In fact, I believe it is hard. But I learned a long time ago that anything hard is always very rewarding.

My first two years were hell. At the time, my mindset was focusing on rebuilding myself as quick as possible. I needed to prove to my family that I could rebuild everything in no time. I was totally focused and determined, attending all business presentations and events. I saw all the top leaders up on stage and the amount of success they’d achieved, I was so convinced that I can be them and can show my parents and friends that I am capable to rebuild everything I’d lost in no time.

I spent all my time duplicating everything the top leaders said and did. But on the inside, I was kind of beating myself up by comparing myself with them. I kept asking myself why I can’t achieve what they achieved. I was so eager to show my family my ability to succeed. But, one thing I failed to focus on is ME! The most important person in the world.

During my first two years in Network Marketing, I was too busy trying to be someone else and too busy trying to prove myself to everyone. I struggled in those first two years, my business was like my blood temperature going up and down like a yoyo.

In my third year, everything changed! My father passed away and he was the person I always looked up to. In fact, he was the person I want to prove everything to.

All of a sudden, I stopped and start thinking WHO AM I, whom I AM TRYING TO PROVE?

I changed my mindset and worked on myself to find out WHO AM I NOW! Myself is more important.

I listened and learned from the top leaders applying the skills and knowledge to create my own style. I feel free now and enjoy who I am. Most importantly I don’t feel the constant pressure that needs to prove myself. I now feel accomplished in everything I do daily.

From that point onward, I never looked back and my business enjoyed steady growth. Although I am not yet at the top of the world, I feel that I have achieved growth at a rate I enjoyed and continue to feel proud of myself.

By changing my Mindset, I improved my skills creating my success the way I wanted to see it, and the growth has continued. This way, I had so much more fun and enjoyed the journey.

I read a book a long time ago and always remember this quote by…..

William James said: ‘The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind’

I did and it work! I really hope that I have given you my message to focus and work on your MINDSET, it will make a great deal of difference in your life.

I am sure many of you are going through how I felt in my early days in the Network Marketing business. You feel frustrated and even annoyed with yourself or your team. Why have you still not yet achieved what you deserved? Why can’t you be like many others who achieved their glory and recognition and most importantly wealth?

Listen to me, and remember it well…….

It all has to do with the ‘Timing’ my friends. Is like you are in a long queue outside the cinema. You are so looking forward to watching the film. While you are waiting in and queue, people are coming out of the cinema, saying how great the film was, and how much they enjoyed and feel great about it. This is making you even more eager to watch that film. However, some don’t have the patience and do not feel strong enough about the film, so they decided to walk away from the queue. Each time when you walked away the queue gets shorter, and soon will be your turn to enjoy that film as long as you are still staying in the queue.

Can you see where I am coming from? Your time will come as long as you stay in the game, never give up.

Let me tell you another thing…….. While you are waiting for your moment, your glory, your achievement, you are allowing yourself to mature, to learn more and prepare yourself as a better team leader through your experience and learning while you are queuing.

Unlike other achievers they grow very quickly, but are not mature enough, many have fallen and many have to re-educate themselves to stay at the same level with lots of pain and anxiety.

But you are still in the queue, waiting, learning, and maturing yourself. So, when your time comes, you achieved your glory and your goals, you will have more experience, and the ability to maintain it because you are a much better and more experienced leader.

This you need to engrave in your mindset. Keep learning, keep up the consistency, keep helping others and most important of it all, stay in the queue with faith.

Thank you to listen to my story and I hope my personal message and this last training module - Mindset will give you a solid foundation to work on your personal development.

What Is a Mindset?

Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation.

According to Carol Dweck in her 2006 book, there are two basic mindsets: fixed and growth. If you have a fixed mindset, you believe your abilities are fixed traits and therefore can't be changed. You may also believe that your talent and intelligence alone lead to success, and effort is not required.

On the flip side, if you have a growth mindset, you believe that your talents and abilities can be developed over time through effort and persistence. People with this mindset don't necessarily believe that everyone can become Einstein or Mozart just because they try. They do, however, believe that everyone can get smarter or more talented if they work at it.
